Last updated: 20 October 2026. This cookie policy explains how Scottish Energy Efficiency — East Lothian uses cookies on solarpanelseastlothian.co.uk. We are committed to being transparent about how we use cookies and giving you control over your preferences. This policy applies to all pages on our website.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function correctly, remember your preferences, and in some cases track usage patterns to help site owners understand how visitors use the site. Cookies are not harmful to your device and do not contain viruses or malware. They do not identify you personally, but they do allow the website to recognise your device and remember information about your visit.
There are different types of cookies: session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. There are also first-party cookies, set by the website you are visiting, and third-party cookies, set by other organisations.
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are needed for the website to function correctly. They remember your cookie preferences, keep forms working, and maintain basic site functionality. These cookies are on by default and cannot be turned off in our cookie banner, because without them parts of the website would not work properly. Essential cookies on this site include:
- A cookie that remembers whether you have accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so we do not show you the cookie banner every time you visit.
- Any cookies required for the quote form to submit correctly.
Non-essential cookies
Non-essential cookies — such as analytics cookies that track how visitors use the site, or marketing cookies that help us show relevant content to the right audience — are off by default. This means no analytics or marketing scripts run unless you explicitly accept them. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies using the cookie banner that appears on your first visit to the site.
If you accept non-essential cookies, we may use analytics services to understand how visitors find and use our website, which pages are most popular, and where visitors are located at a general level. This helps us improve the site and our service. We do not use cookies to identify you personally.
How to change your choice
You can change your cookie preferences at any time. If you want to change your choice after you have accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, you can:
- Clear your browser cookies for solarpanelseastlothian.co.uk and revisit the site — the cookie banner will appear again.
- Use your browser settings to view and delete individual cookies set by this website.
- Use the cookie banner link in the footer to re-open the banner if available.
Most modern browsers also allow you to block all cookies or only accept cookies from sites you trust. Check your browser's help documentation for instructions on managing cookies.
Third-party services
If you accept non-essential cookies, some third-party services may set their own cookies on your device. We do not control these third-party cookies, and each third party has its own privacy and cookie policies. We recommend reviewing their policies if you want to understand how they use cookies.
Updates to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation or our own practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
